My Birthday

I'm pretty low key about my birthday (which is in June. Yes, I know this post was scheduled pretty late..). I don't typically tell people it's coming. I won't go into the details of why because that's not what I want this post to be about. This post is about the 3 very special people in my life who gave their little hearts and souls to giving me some special time with them for my birthday. I cried. I love them. And I love the joy and love that I see emanate through the eyes.

We kicked off the day with a huge bowl of fruit salad for us all to share at breakfast.

Seriously, the day could have ended there and it would have been awesome; seemingly endless fruit salad and the company of ones that I absolutely adore; but the breakfast also has buckwheat crepes (and Jason makes the best crepes. I really should have him make them more often) and the day had more surprises in store.

I got to enjoy books with the kiddos while Jason cleaned up. Then a very thoughtful friend (Michelle) surprised me and took me out walking through some shops for the morning while Jason and the kiddos put up some decorations. Jason even took pictures for me while I was out! Now, THAT was a birthday surprise!

The afternoon was filled with time being goofy, a bike ride in the rain (which the kids are asking if we can do again because they loved it so much!) and one of my favorite dinners - Indian!

I felt really spoiled when the gifts and the handmade cards came out. That's when the tears came...

I feel pretty blessed.

Then we rounded the night off with birthday fruit cobbler. Yes, cobbler. Not cake. It was perfect.

I'm so grateful for these thoughtful people in my life. I loved getting to spend the day with them. I'm happy to say that my birthday is now a day in June that I look forward to very much.

Happy belated birthday to you. But now I'm curious of the day though because my b-day's in June, too. :) We have that same family BOM, too. Love it. The bike ride in the rain reminded me of a Jane Austen movie. So sweet.
