We woke up to our first snow this morning. It was so exciting for the kids that they rushed into our bedroom shortly after 5am to let us know about it. I feel a little bad that I wasn't jump-out-of-bed enthused because I usually try my best to show the kids how excited I am for their excitement. However, I did tell them how excited I was to look at it when it was time to get up. And it definitely snowed. Not a ton. But enough to get a bit of a snow fix, throw some snow at each other, run around, slide, and dream of snow forts and sledding.
It may as well of been Phineas' first time with snow since he won't likely remember snow from last year. And he is a big fan. Between Christmas decorations we put up yesterday (perfect timing to beat the snow!) and snow this morning, Phineas is beside himself with excitement. And Milayla and Atticus are building it up even more with their exuberance about all the winter fun to come. I'm glad they love snow. Because we sure to get a lot of it.
We celebrated the first day of snow by playing in it. Obviously. Snow angels and snow balls were the most popular things to do. And Phineas was just enamoured with how it looked and felt and how he could waddle around in it. And the kids ran and ran and ran, then twirled until they got dizzy. It was fun to play with them and Jason even made it home in time to play with us a bit before it was time to head off and make dinner. And to celebrate the first snow day we had some big mugs of hot chocolate with whip cream and cinnamon. Yum! Loved getting to play with these awesome kids.
Enjoy the pictures and check out how big those smiles are! There has been a lot of anticipation for snow around here.
