Greece - Day 3 (Driving to Athens)

Today's plans were to drive to Athens. Originally, we had thought we would stop in Meteora for part of the day before driving onward, but it did not feel right and we could not ignore that. So we made the plan to drive straight through along the coast line.

About 20 minutes into the drive our backseat passengers looked like this...

That's Milayla, sound asleep.

And that is an extremely sick Atticus
(and in a poor car seat suitable for a 2-year-old - thanks car rental company..)

It became rather apparent to us why we were driving straight through to Athens when Atticus let us all take a second look at his breakfast soon after this photo was taken. The poor little guy became pretty friendly with a plastic bag and went through a few changes of clothing before we made it to Athens.

We saw some pretty nice views from the car though.

Including Mount Olympus!
Driving toward Mount Olympus
Passing Mount Olympus. Yes, that's snow! Brrrrrr!
We made quite a few stops in order to give Atticus some fresh air which he quite enjoyed. And when Milayla awoke she kept herself busy reading books.

It was a rather gray, chilly day, so we were pretty grateful to be all warm inside the car together. The views were still beautiful though. The pictures do not portray it well at all.

We talked, sang, played games, and laughed our way to Athens. And let's not forget Milayla getting her first lesson behind the wheel...

Atticus was pretty relieved when we finally got to the hotel, and so were we (until we saw our poor choice of location but that's another story...)! Once Atticus was out of the car and moving around, he felt much better so we decided to go walking and find ourselves some dinner.

We opted for Souvlaki Row and thoroughly enjoyed it as we took in the sights of the Acropolis and Plaka at night. It was beautiful! We walked as far and long as our feet would let us go before heading back to the hotel for the night.
