Rhododendron Park

It has been a rainy week. So when we woke up to sunshine we were pretty excited to hop on our bikes and go anywhere outside. Thankfully, that anywhere happened to be Rhododendron Park; a beautiful park with plenty of trees and flowers.

Despite that it was still a little on the chilly side we loved soaking in the sun!

The park was beautiful and a nice size for a leisurely morning walk and the flowers are definitely in their peak. The ponds and canals that run through the park are so tranquil and reminded us of the Crystal Clear Lakes in Canmore (due to the fact that the water was so clean you could see to the bottom).

The kids certainly enjoyed themselves. There is nothing quite like spending some time outdoors. Atticus enjoyed searching for traces of different types of animals/insects (eg., holes in the leaves) and learning the difference between a bud and a flower.

Milayla loved pointing out different colored flowers and bumble bees. She has such a keen eye for detail.

Then the boys needed to take a little rest before we biked home for afternoon nap :)

And, of course, biking around in the bakfiets is always fun; the reactions from people are interesting. Today we met a couple who seen a bakfiets while they were on a trip to Denmark and were pretty fascinated by it, so they had some questions. Then a lady who was waiting to cross at a red light was startled when she came closer to have a look at the bike and realized that what she thought was a teddy bear sitting inside (next to Atticus) was actually a little girl - Milayla!

It was a lovely morning. A nice precursor to the cleaning and baking that ensued in the afternoon.
